Utility Commission To Fight Suit Over $2.2B Buyout

Law360, New York (February 28, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Utility regulators in Montana plan to dispute a lawsuit that threatens to postpone a state hearing on the proposed $2.2 billion buyout of NorthWestern Energy, Montana’s biggest electric and gas utility.

Owners of two independent power plants filed suit against Montana’s utility commission last week in the Montana First Judicial District for Lewis and Clark County, urging the court to push back the March 14 hearing until they are able to provide testimony opposing the sale.
