Wal-Mart Probes Whether Rivals Funded Enviro Suits

Law360, New York (September 23, 2010, 6:40 PM EDT) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. reportedly is trying to find out more information about whether several environmental suits opposing its plans to open stores in California communities are being funded by grocery rivals.

The retail giant asked judges to make its opponents disclose who is paying the legal bills in four out of dozens of California suits seeking to stall Wal-Mart’s development efforts, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday.
