Amgen Recalls Anemia Drugs Due To Glass Flakes

Law360, New York (September 24, 2010, 6:55 PM EDT) -- Amgen Inc. and Ortho Biotech Products LP have recalled several shipments of their anemia drugs Epogen and Procrit, saying bits of glass have flaked off from inside the drugs' vials.

In announcing the recall, Epogen maker Amgen said it had not received any complaints or reports about problems directly related to the glass flakes, which are barely visible in most cases.

The recall affects up to 324,000 vials of Procrit and a similar amount of Epogen, the companies said.
