EPA Prescribes Pollution Diet For Chesapeake Bay

Law360, New York (September 24, 2010, 4:36 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Friday unveiled a proposed mandatory pollution diet for Chesapeake Bay in an effort to ensure that all pollution control measures to fully restore the health of the watershed are in place by 2025.

The draft Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load — the largest ever developed by the EPA — calls for 25 percent reductions in nitrogen and phosphorous and at least a 16 percent reduction in sediment through a combination of federal and state actions in order to achieve...
