Motorola Exits WIAV Cell Phone Patent Suit

Law360 (September 27, 2010, 12:32 PM EDT) -- Motorola Inc. has reached a settlement in WIAV Solutions LLC's patent infringement suit against a number of technology companies over cell phone link adaptation technology, following the mobile device maker's failed bid for summary judgment.

Judge Robert E. Payne of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia dismissed Motorola from the case Friday, after approving the parties’ stipulated dismissal of claims related to U.S. Patent Numbers 6,539,205 and 6,680,920.

Further details of the deal were not available, and attorneys for WIAV and for Motorola did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
