EEOC Hits Union With Retaliation Suit

Law360, New York (March 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- An Illinois labor union punished a long-standing member who complained of race discrimination, according to a suit lodged by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

In the action, filed Wednesday in an Illinois district court, the EEOC alleges the Glaziers, Architectural Metal and Glass Workers Local 27 deprived a glazier of union member privileges in retaliation for his allegations of race bias against both the union and a former employer.
