Orbitz Targeted In Patent Suit Over Automated Notifications

Law360, New York (August 15, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Online travel company Orbitz has been targeted in a patent lawsuit over automated notifications and other technology, according to a regulatory filing.

The lawsuit, brought by ArrivalStar Inc., names Orbitz and two other unrelated defendants, according to Orbitz's second-quarter filing Wednesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Orbitz said the complaint, filed June 2 in a U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, alleges infringement of a number of patents, including business method patents, related to Orbitz's customer-care program and the automated communication...
