Sony Didn't Give A Franc, Fixed Prices On PS2: France

Law360, New York (March 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The French competition authority has fined Sony Computer Entertainment France €800,000 for fixing prices with retailers during the launch of its PlayStation 2 game console in France.

The Conseil de la concurrence said that it had made an agreement with all its distributors to publish a single resale price during the PlayStation 2 launch campaign.

The PlayStation 2, successor to Sony’s popular PlayStation, was released in Europe on Nov. 24, 2000 and the suggested retail price was €249 to €259.
