Elan Patent Claims Trimmed In Apple Touch-Screen Suit

Law360, New York (September 29, 2010, 6:14 PM EDT) -- A U.S. International Trade Commission administrative law judge has invalidated several claims of an Elan Microelectronics Corp. touch-screen technology patent asserted against Apple Inc.

Administrative Law Judge Paul J. Luckern issued the ruling Tuesday, and it will become the ITC's official determination in 30 days unless the full commission grants or initiates a review.

Hsinchu, Taiwan-based Elan filed a complaint with the ITC in March, trying to block Apple's iPad and iPhone devices from entering the U.S.
