Enzi Blocks Mine Safety Bill From Senate Floor

Law360, New York (September 29, 2010, 1:40 PM EDT) -- Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., has stalled passage of a sweeping mine safety bill that would create tough liability standards for mine operators and give new whistleblower protections to miners.

Enzi, the ranking Republican on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, objected to a motion by Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., on Tuesday to bring the bill to the Senate floor.
