DOJ Probes Amedisys Over Medicare Billing

Law360, New York (September 29, 2010, 2:11 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has ordered home health care company Amedisys Inc. to produce Medicare reimbursement and billing claims and other records as part of a civil investigation under the False Claims Act.

The DOJ's civil investigative demand requires Amedisys to deliver documents covering its clinical and business operations since 2003 to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Alabama, the home health and hospice company said Tuesday.
