EEOC Accuses Wal-Mart, Altec Of Religious Bias

Law360, New York (October 1, 2010, 5:01 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission accused Wal-Mart Stores Inc. on Friday of discriminating against an assistant manager because he was Mormon, on the heels of a suit accusing Altec Industries Inc. of bias against job applicants who don't work on weekends for religious reasons.

The EEOC filed suit against Wal-Mart in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, alleging the retail giant threatened to fire an assistant manager who refused to work on Sunday because of his Mormonism.
