CIT Rids Chinese Tire Cos. Of Disputed Duty

Law360, New York (October 4, 2010, 7:42 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Court of International Trade has extinguished countervailing duties for two Chinese off-road tire producers following their drawn-out dispute with the U.S. Department of Commerce over the calculation of the trade sanctions.

On Friday, Judge Jane Restani of the CIT lifted countervailing duties for Hebei Starbright Tire Co. Ltd. and Tianjin United Tire & Rubber International Co. Ltd. after Commerce yielded, not without protest, to the court’s determination that the duties were improperly assessed.
