$20 Parking Fee Blocked Union Access To Resort: NLRB

Law360, New York (October 4, 2010, 2:59 PM EDT) -- The National Labor Relations Board has ruled that an upscale Hawaii resort violated federal labor laws by revoking parking validation privileges for union representatives in the midst of a contentious standoff between hotel workers and management.

A three-member NLRB panel found Thursday that the sudden imposition of a $20 parking fee on union agents represented a material, unilateral change to union access to the Oahu-based Turtle Bay Resort, and therefore a unilateral change to the conditions of employment.
