Wash. Fines Tesoro $2.4M Over Fatal Refinery Blast

Law360, New York (October 5, 2010, 6:34 PM EDT) -- Tesoro Corp. has been fined $2.39 million for allegedly violating several health and safety regulations that Washington state regulators say could have prevented a deadly explosion at its Anacortes, Wash., refinery in April.

The Washington Department of Labor and Industries announced the fine Monday after a six-month investigation into the blast that killed seven people, the worst of its kind in the state in the past 37 years.
