Washington Sues Over Infant Coverage Laws

Law360, New York (March 6, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Adding its cry to the contentious issue of Medicare, Washington state has filed a lawsuit against the federal government over a new national rule that would make it tougher for infants born in the U.S. of illegal immigrants to get medical coverage.

Federal law currently limits eligibility for Medicaid to people who are under a certain income level and U.S. citizens or residents who have been living lawfully within the country for five years.
