FTC Proposes New Restrictions On 'Green' Claims

Law360, New York (October 6, 2010, 7:35 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission has proposed new rules for manufacturers that would make it a little harder to be green.

The agency on Wednesday revealed a set of revised guidelines aimed at restricting manufacturers’ freedom to market consumer products as environmentally friendly.

The commission opened for public comment a host of changes to its so-called Green Guides in an effort to help companies avoid making misleading environmental claims and help consumers make more informed purchases.
