La. Case Against BP To Remain In Federal Court

Law360, New York (October 7, 2010, 4:40 PM EDT) -- The state of Louisiana's suit against BP PLC over the sinking of the Deepwater Horizon rig will stay in the federal court handling the Deepwater-related multidistrict litigation, despite the state's request to have one of its parish courts hear the case.

Judge Carl J. Barbier of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana on Wednesday refused to remand the case to state court at Louisiana's request, shooting down a series of state arguments as to why the suit should not be federal....
