8th Circ. Denies Rehearing In ReliaStar Annuity Spat

Law360, New York (October 7, 2010, 3:27 PM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has declined to reconsider its decision to deny class certification in a contract suit alleging ReliaStar Life Insurance Co. lied to consumers about interest rates on annuities, dealing what is almost sure to be the case's death blow.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit denied a petition for rehearing and a petition for rehearing en banc Tuesday. The court in August refused to overturn a decision by the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota barring class certification....
