Acquisition Councils Iron Out Ban For Sudan-Tied Cos.

Law360, New York (October 7, 2010, 5:21 PM EDT) -- The Civilian Agency Acquisition Council and the Defense Acquisition Regulations Council have proposed amendments to the federal rules prohibiting contracting with entities that conduct restricted business operations in Sudan, formalizing the waiver process by which the U.S. government can make deals with companies that would otherwise be banned.

The councils announced the proposed rule change in the Federal Register on Thursday, requesting that interested parties submit comments by Dec. 6 to be considered in the formulation of the final rule.
