Pfizer Recalls 191,000 Lipitor Bottles Due To Odor

Law360, New York (October 7, 2010, 6:44 PM EDT) -- Pfizer Inc. has recalled nearly 200,000 bottles of the cholesterol drug Lipitor in the U.S. and Canada after receiving reports of a musty odor emanating from some bottles made by a third-party supplier.

The recall of 191,000 Lipitor bottles occurred in mid-August, but the company did not make the information public until Thursday.

The affected products included seven lots of 40 mg Lipitor and three lots of the medicine supplied to a Canadian drugmaker, Pfizer said. Lipitor is the pharmaceutical company's top seller, bringing in nearly...
