Federal Circuit Affirms District Court's Ruling For Fisher-Price Vs. Safety 1st

Law360, New York (August 19, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has affirmed a district court jury's finding that Dorel Industries’ Safety 1st unit infringed two patents held by toymaker Mattel Inc.’s Fisher-Price unit, and said another product should be considered when a new jury calculates damages.

In its opinion, the three-judge appeals panel also upheld an injunction issued by a district court judge last year prohibiting Safety 1st from distributing in the U.S. some of its Bouncenette and Magic Motion models, which were found to infringe Mattel's...
