Nidec Accuses LG Of Infringement

Law360, New York (March 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- International companies continue to enforce patents on U.S. soil. Japan-based Nidec Corp. has aimed a patent infringement suit against an LG Electronics Inc. unit over motors used in computer CD and DVD drives.

Nidec accuses Korea-based LG Innotek Co. and its Chinese affiliate, LG Innotek Huizhou Inc., of infringing its patent for a motor that includes a cup-shaped housing to prevent lubricant oil from spilling.

“Nidec respects intellectual property rights of others and expects others to do likewise,” Nidec said.
