Sens. Urge US To Fight China's Chicken Duties

Law360, New York (October 12, 2010, 7:23 PM EDT) -- Sens. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, and Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, have asked the Obama administration to push China to withdraw its anti-dumping and countervailing duties on U.S. poultry products, saying the tariffs are the latest in a string of discriminatory trade practices by China.

In a letter sent Tuesday to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk, the senators said the duties “are plainly inconsistent with China’s [World Trade Organization] obligations and threaten to cause serious harm to the U.S. poultry industry.”...
