Skadden Reps Broadcom In $316M Beceem Buy

Law360, New York (October 13, 2010, 2:01 PM EDT) -- Broadcom Corp. announced Wednesday that it has agreed to pay $316 million to acquire Beceem Communications Inc., a developer of fourth-generation wireless platform solutions.

The deal gives the Irvine, Calif.-based semiconductor company a boost in the race to develop 4G technology for mobile phones and other wireless devices. Combined with Broadcom's current 3G and 2G cellular products, Beceem's technology will hasten the market availability of lower-cost wireless broadband devices, Broadcom said Wednesday.
