Jury Nails Ex-Gateway Execs In SEC Fraud Suit

Law360 (March 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Gateway Inc.’s former finance chief and controller exaggerated the computer maker’s earnings to meet Wall Street targets in 2000, a San Diego jury has found.

The jury issued the verdicts against former Chief Financial Officer John J. Todd and former Controller Robert D. Manza on Wednesday after a three week trial in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.

Todd and Manza were found liable on civil charges brought by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for fraud, making false statements to accountants...
