SEC Wins Fraud Suit Against Troubled Drug Co.

Law360, New York (October 15, 2010, 5:37 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has won its civil case against Helvetia Pharmaceuticals Inc., an allegedly rogue, unregistered company that the commission said was founded by former convicts with dark histories who promoted European cancer treatments that actually contained weed killer.

Judge Adalberto Jordan in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Thursday issued final judgments in favor of the SEC, granting the government's motions for default judgment against the company and summary judgment against and one of its former executives....
