Australia Urges US To OK Delta-Virgin Blue Alliance

Law360, New York (October 15, 2010, 1:32 PM EDT) -- Australia’s transportation regulator is urging the U.S. Department of Transportation to end its opposition to granting antitrust immunity for a proposed trans-Pacific alliance between Virgin Blue Group and Delta Air Lines Inc.

The venture would allow the two independent carriers to better compete with established alliances, Andrew Wilson, the deputy secretary for Australia’s Department of Infrastructure and Transport, said in a letter to the DOT on Thursday.
