R&Q Still Has To Pay $1.7M After Court Ruling

Law360, New York (October 18, 2010, 2:44 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has ruled that R&Q Reinsurance Co. must pay two insurance companies more than $1.7 million that an arbitration panel awarded them for unpaid claims for costs related to litigation over asbestos exposure and the Catholic priest sex-abuse scandal.

In a ruling handed down Thursday, Judge George W. Lindberg of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois found that the arbitration panel had sufficiently explained why it awarded American Motorists Insurance Co. and Lumbermens Mutual Casualty Co. $1.4 million, plus $350,000...
