Kosher Trademark Owners Sue Olive Oil Maker

Law360, New York (March 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Jewish non-profit organization is taking aim at an olive oil manufacturing company for improperly using a kosher certification trademark on non-kosher products.

The lawsuit, filed by the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America on Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, accuses Valdoliva International Inc. of acts of trademark infringement, false designation of origin, dilution, unfair competition, and deceptive trade practices arising out of Valdoliva’s use of the Orthodox Union’s kosher certification mark.
