Structural Design Firms Settle Patent Suit

Law360, New York (March 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Rival engineering design firms in Los Angeles have reached a settlement in their patent infringement lawsuit over a unique structural design element used in earthquake-resistant construction.

The plaintiff, Seismic Structural Design Associates Inc., said earlier this month it was pleased the settlement upheld the validity of its “groundbreaking” patent for so-called structural steel seismic connections, which have become increasingly popular in the Los Angeles area.
