Prempro Use May Double Breast Cancer Risk: Study

Law360, New York (October 20, 2010, 4:19 PM EDT) -- Women diagnosed with cancer after taking hormone-replacement therapy drugs like Wyeth's Prempro were more likely to succumb to the disease, according to new data released just an hour after Wyeth won a trial in multidistrict litigation over the menopause drug.

The research released Tuesday, an extension of a study paid for by the National Institutes of Health between 1993 and 2002, suggests that cancers diagnosed after HRT use are more aggressive and potentially twice as deadly.
