Fendi Gets $10M To End Burlington Coat Factory Suit

Law360, New York (October 20, 2010, 5:29 PM EDT) -- Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corp. will pay Italian luxury brand Fendi SRL $10 million to settle a suit accusing the retailer of violating a 1987 injunction by selling counterfeit leather goods.

The settlement, announced by Fendi on Wednesday, follows an August recommendation by Magistrate Judge Michael H. Dolinger of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York that Burlington be forced to pay Fendi $5.65 million in treble damages, attorneys' fees and costs for willful counterfeiting.
