2nd Circ. Quashes Philips Atty's Wrongful Firing Suit

Law360, New York (October 26, 2010, 2:46 PM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has refused to overturn the dismissal of a wrongful termination lawsuit alleging that Philips Electronics North America Corp. fired its senior intellectual property counsel for reporting that several of the company's patents had been fraudulently obtained.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit affirmed on Monday a district court's ruling, finding that plaintiff John F. Vodopia had failed to claim Philips fired him for engaging in activity protected by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Vodopia worked as the company's senior IP counsel...
