E.U. Takes Aim At Flat Glass Cartel

Law360, New York (March 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Union’s antitrust authority sent price-fixing allegations to a handful of international companies on Wednesday, taking its first formal step toward shattering an alleged cartel in the flat glass manufacturing industry.

The allegations were detailed in a so-called statement of objections—the first step of a legal process that could lead to steep fines against the companies.

The E.C.'s latest move follows a two-year probe of the flat glass industry that was kicked off by raids of European glassmaking facilities in February and March 2005....
