Wyeth Sues Fourth Drug Maker Over Generic Effexor

Law360 (March 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In an ongoing battle to keep cheaper versions of its blockbuster antidepressant off the shelves, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals has sued a fourth generic drug maker for patent infringement.

The latest suit, filed Monday in Maryland’s federal court, claims India’s Lupin Ltd. and its U.S. arm Lupin Pharmaceuticals violated three of Wyeth’s patents when it applied to the federal drug agency for approval to market a copy of popular drug Effexor XR.
