GSA Subcontractor Pleads Guilty To $1.9M Theft

Law360, New York (October 29, 2010, 4:28 PM EDT) -- A former government subcontractor has pled guilty to stealing nearly $1.9 million from funds designated for construction projects at the National Institutes of Health.

Nicole Shantelle Smith pled guilty Thursday in the U. S. District Court for the District of Columbia to one count of theft of government property. She faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, an order of restitution and a fine of more than $3 million, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Friday.
