2 Chevron Attys Sanctioned In $27B Amazon Fight

Law360, New York (October 29, 2010, 1:07 PM EDT) -- An Ecuadorean trial court has sanctioned two lawyers representing Chevron Corp. in a $27 billion environmental damage case for flooding the court with redundant motions, the plaintiffs in the seven-year-old battle said Friday.

The Amazon Defense Coalition, which is working on prosecuting the case in Ecuador, said Judge Nicolas Zambrano of the Superior Court of Nueva Loja fined and sanctioned the two lawyers for using the motions to obstruct the trial, citing court documents made available Friday.
