NLRB Targets Hair Salon Over Union Solicitation

Law360, New York (November 1, 2010, 2:24 PM EDT) -- The National Labor Relations Board has initiated an enforcement action against hair salon operator Regis Corp. over allegations that it attempted to unlawfully prevent employees from signing union authorization cards.

The NLRB announced in a press release Friday that it had issued a complaint against Minneapolis-based Regis — which operates approximately 10,000 hair salons under names such as Supercuts, Cost Cutters and Hair Club for Men and Women — for an alleged “secret ballot” pledge that resulted in employees agreeing to never sign union authorization cards....
