Rolls-Royce Nixes Part Of Carnival's $130M Defect Suit

Law360, New York (November 1, 2010, 2:26 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has granted partial summary judgment in favor of two Rolls-Royce PLC subsidiaries in Carnival Corp.'s $130 million suit accusing the British engine maker of selling a faulty propulsion system for the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship.

Judge Patricia A. Seitz of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida ruled Friday that Carnival Corp. had failed to support its theory of alter-ego liability against Rolls-Royce North American Holdings Inc. and Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine Inc.
