State Farm Suit Stayed For $6.4M Liability Feud

Law360, New York (November 2, 2010, 3:15 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has stayed State Farm Fire & Casualty Co.’s lawsuit seeking to duck coverage for Arbor Vineyards LLC, allowing the real estate developer to address the underlying $6.4 million suit homeowners filed alleging shoddy construction.

At a hearing Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, Magistrate Judge Dennis Hubel sidelined State Farm’s declaratory suit to allow Arbor Vineyards and its affiliates to face the underlying action, which alleges construction defects caused extensive property damage to Beaverton, Ore., residences.
