Fed. Circ. Ups $13.8M Verdict In Antivirus IP Appeal

Law360, New York (November 4, 2010, 7:02 PM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has upheld — and enhanced — a $13.8 million jury verdict against Secure Computing Corp. in a suit filed by Finjan Inc. alleging infringement of three computer network protection patents.

Secure Computing's argument that jurors used too broad a royalty base fell on deaf ears at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which handed down its ruling Thursday, while a cross-appeal from Finjan seeking additional damages won the court's respect.
