Modesto To Pay $3.25M In Sex Discrimination Case

Law360, New York (March 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Three female government workers who sued the city of Modesto, Calif. for sexual discrimination and harassment have scored a $3.25 million settlement, ending a long-standing battle over the city’s employment policies.

On Wednesday, the court approved the multimillion dollar deal favoring Karin Rodriguez, Jocelyn Reed and Debra Egger, putting to rest allegations that have haunted Modesto's government for years.

“Unfortunately, gender disparity has historically been a systemic problem within the city," said Susan Kirkgaard, an attorney with Diepenbrock Harrison, who represented the plaintiffs in the case....
