BP Culture Of Safety Must Be Reformed: Spill Panel

Law360, New York (November 9, 2010, 7:03 PM EST) -- BP PLC and other companies made one bad decision after another in the lead-up to the April 20 Deepwater Horizon explosion, and they need to reform their culture of safety, experts testified Tuesday as part of a federal inquiry into the accident.

The National Oil Spill Commission's investigative team found no evidence that decision makers specifically sacrificed safety for cost. Nonetheless, there was a series of almost inexplicable failures, commission co-chair and former Sen. Bob Graham said during the second of two days of hearings....
