Lockheed, Goodyear, Others Settle Ariz. Landfill Claim

Law360, New York (November 11, 2010, 12:41 PM EST) -- Twenty-three companies including General Dynamics Corp., Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Lockheed Martin Corp. have agreed to pay $542,000 to resolve their alleged roles in the disposal of hazardous wastes at a Tucson, Ariz., landfill from 1945 through the early 1970s.

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and the Arizona Attorney General's Office on Wednesday announced the settlements with companies that they contended were directly responsible or responsible through successor companies for the dumped waste that has contaminated a drinking water aquifer and migrated off-site....
