US Slaps 228% Dumping Rate On Chinese Carbon

Law360, New York (November 11, 2010, 1:29 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Commerce has calculated final dumping margins for steam-activated carbon imports from China, assigning the country a 228 percent rate and announcing a shift to a new, per-kilogram assessment system.

The China-wide rate, which comes to $2.42 per kilogram, represents a slight increase from the preliminary margins announced in May, an attorney for domestic carbon companies said.

Mandatory respondents Jacobi Carbons AB and Ningxia Huahui Activated Carbon Co. Ltd. received rates of 4.15 percent ($0.11 per kilogram) and 59.35 percent ($0.44 per kilogram),...
