Hollywood.com Hit With $9M Copyright Suit Over Photos

Law360, New York (November 11, 2010, 4:02 PM EST) -- Celebrity photo agency X17 Inc. has launched an $8.8 million suit against Hollywood.com LLC, saying the gossip site operator stole and republished hundreds or even thousands of the plaintiff's photos.

The agency filed its suit Nov.5 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, accusing Hollywood.com — which is owned by founders of Sci Fi Channel — of violating U.S., Canadian and British copyright law.
