Safeway Insurance Settles FLSA Class Action

Law360, New York (November 11, 2010, 4:48 PM EST) -- Safeway Insurance Co. has settled a putative class action accusing it of violating the Fair Labor Standards Act by failing to pay its insurance adjusters proper overtime wages.

Noting the agreement between the auto insurer and lead plaintiff Ruby Lauderdale, Judge Tom S. Lee of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi dismissed the case without prejudice on Wednesday.

Details on the settlement were not immediately available Thursday, and representatives of both parties did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
