Motorola Hits Back At Microsoft In Big-Dollar IP War

Law360 (November 12, 2010, 1:46 PM EST) -- On the heels of Microsoft Corp.'s contract suit against Motorola Inc. over alleged patent license price-gouging, a Motorola unit has fired back, asserting patents in two suits that allegedly relate to the technology giant's core Windows 7 and Xbox businesses.

Motorola Mobility Inc.'s suits, lodged Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, assert nine patents related to digital video coding and wireless networking.

At least two of the patents in the new Motorola complaints are mentioned by Microsoft in its Nov. 9 suit accusing Motorola of breaching agreed-upon rules that govern how much companies can charge...
