Greenpeace Seeks To Halt New Offshore Drilling In UK

Law360, New York (November 12, 2010, 12:15 PM EST) -- Greenpeace lodged a claim Friday seeking to stop the U.K. government from issuing licenses for offshore drilling until the causes of the Deepwater Horizon accident have been properly established.

The claim, filed with the High Court in London, could affect more than 20 recently issued oil production licenses and future licensing rounds at environmentally sensitive sites, such as those that support legally protected species like whales and dolphins, according to Greenpeace.
